Monday Mani : Berry Me Green

Hey hey everyone.

My nails have finally grown a little and what better way to celebrate, than to paint them in one of my favourite colours.

I can rely on the ever dependent blue nail polish shades to make my mani's pop that little bit more.

For this look I have used Barry M Gelly nail paint in Greenberry.

What a wonder this nail polish is.

Seriously, I don't think I know anyone this colour would not suit, or anyone who doesn't like this nail polish shade.

Such a bright turquoise, aqua-green colour with the great Barry M gelly formula present.

I don't feel like pictures capture the true colour of this nail polish, but I am sure between pictures and seeing the nail polish in person, you can imagine its beauty.

As with the majority of Barry M Gelly nail polishes, this was easy to apply and dried pretty quickly. I used 2 coats for this mani and my nails had a great gloss to them, but I always use a topcoat to try to help minimise chips.
This is one of those shades that I will constantly use and re-buy, it is a must have for any nail collection.

Back to School : Bags III of III

I could not do a back to study clothes and bag post together.
They each need their own time to shine.
So for this post I will be focusing on back to school/study appropriate bags. And we all know I feel about bags :)

Back in the day when I was at school, before the beginning of the new school year I would trawl up and down Oxford Circus in search of a mini Nike backpack.

Who remembers these......Memories!

This bag would hold it all, the anthology, your exercise books, diary, pens, hair gel, brush, sweets and panda pops lol. The good old days. I literally had these backpacks in so many colours and designs. My favourite I found in a Nike shop in France which was teal blue, with a see through grey bottom. Yes please.

Now I am older, know better and need more space for things, I have more age and personal style appropriate options. Any excuse for shopping eh.

Back to School : Uniform II of III

In sticking with the back to school traditions, there are some things which I have carried over from my many years at school. One of which is the use of a uniform. Not a school uniform per say, but I like to try to have in my head, what clothes I will be wearing to attend school. This helps me to not wear out my good clothes (remember those?) and help to limit those - I have nothing to wear moments in the morning.

It does not take much or anything really for me to create wishlists, mental notes and saved items of all the gorgeous clothes I wish to add to my wardrobe.
Especially now the weather is a-changing I mean it's just wishlist central around here.

So here are a few pieces I would like to add to my wardrobe and/or will be wearing for my return to school.

Eczema : What We Use

Hi guys,

For my last post during National Eczema Week 13th September - 21st September 2014, I thought I would do a small post featuring our current eczema products that we use for Cai.

A lot of products are down to trial and error and these are the products that are currently working for Cai.

Face :

Cai's eczema is most prominent and bothersome on his face and neck area.

We use a mix of Diprobase and Bria Organics Relief, Repair & Replenish balm to cream his face and neck 5-6 times a day. We tend to cream his face with every nappy change.

Diprobase was prescribed to us from our Doctor and works fantastically well with the Bria Organics Relief, Repair and Replenish balm. I have done a full review on the balm here so please do have a read for detailed information on the product. These two together have changed my sons face incredibly.

We also use the Relief, Repair & Replenish balm for any places we may see Cai itching as it relieves him of any discomfort.

Back to School : Stationery I of III

To kick off my 3 part mini Back to School series, I wanted to start with non other than the school/study essentials : Stationery.
I am quite nerdy when it comes to stationery. I like particular pens, paper, notebooks, notepads the works. I just feel like they help my brain to focus. At school before a new term my mum and I would pop to WHSmith and get all new pens, pencils, maths sets, folders etc for school. We all would sit there in class on the first day back, looking well proud when we pulled out our new pencil cases. However usually for me after about two weeks, I would be that pupil that would always be asking to borrow a pen, rubber, pencil, ruler, highlighter, sharpener everythang lol.

I am going back to study this Autumn/Winter and I'm really looking forward to it. As with any new thing that means new equipment is usually needed. [I.e shopping]. Doesn't it?

So as quite the stationery lover I have created my stationery wish lists below.

Monday Mani : Matt White Remix

As my nails have taken a turn onto Short Nail Avenue, I am trying to find ways to jazz up a shorter nail paint job.

As mentioned in my previous post which featured white nails here, I tend to like white polish on shorter nails as I feel it just gives your mani a clean look.

For this look I have used Barry M nail polishes in:

Matt White & Yellow Topaz with Gold Glitter for the glitter 'gradient'.

You guys know I love a glitter 'gradient' although my attempts appear to be more of a glitter section but hey ho.

I quite enjoyed this mani and think this is one I will definitely keep in the shorter nail rolodex.

Bria Organics Review

Hi guys,

We are currently in National Eczema Week 13th September to 21st September 2014.

My son Cairo has eczema and I thought I would share an amazing product that has really helped with his eczema.

This product has been tried, tested and thumbs up'd by me and my family.

My son is currently 1 yr and 8 months old and has suffered from eczema, pretty much from birth. We were prescribed many creams from the hospital and his doctor, from simple emollients to steroid creams. For the most part the steroid cream helped a little however, our doctor, Mal and I were quite reserved about using the steroid cream often. After a few months of using a mix of creams which didn't really work, my friend Ayesha (mentioned here) suggested we try a cream she found on good ol' facebook. I waited for Ayesh to give me her feedback on the cream before purchasing it for bubba and she had nothing but good things to report back.

From there we were introduced to Bria Organics.

National Eczema Week

National Eczema Week 13th September - 21st September 2014.

Hey hey everyone,

This week on Mellies Corner we are supporting National Eczema Week from the 13th of September to the 21st September 2014.

My son Cairo and my mummy, amongst other family and friends, suffer from eczema.

It is stated that in the UK, 1 in 5 children and 1 in 12 adults have eczema. It is an extremely popular medical disorder and affects people of all ages, cultural backgrounds and genders, from mild to severe forms of eczema.

The National Eczema Society are a registered charity in England, Wales and Scotland, who are dedicated to improving the quality of life, of people with eczema and their carers.

On the National Eczema Society website, they offer very helpful advice on how to look after your skin, to treatments from emollients to topical steroids to name a few. They also have booklets, fact sheets and magazines available through their website.

They currently have a new school information pack available for free, on their website. The school information pack contains helpful information on eczema. With advice on how teachers can help children with eczema and a variety of activities, and resources, for different suggested age ranges.

Back To Life, Back To The Study Room

Hey guys,

A little life update for you all.

I am going back to school.
Well I think it sounds a little more age appropriate to say 'back to studying'?

At 26 years of age with a little one under my wing, I will be studying 3 different courses that will take me through to next year.

I attended three different colleges, studying a range of subjects and found it quite difficult in college, to find a subject that I loved and wanted to pursue further.

I did study while working in my previous job, while I was pregnant too and managed to come out the other end with 3 qualifications; so I have restored some faith back in myself regarding studying.

I am hoping for the best and would like to thank this blogging world for helping my brain to work again - putting words together, grammar, spelling you name it.

I am a mix of excitement, anxiousness and nerves about studying again as I want to do well. I just have to keep my head down, keep focused and something which I learnt a little later on in life, always ask for help if needed. I will also miss spending time with my little man, however I am able to go back to study in the evenings, thankfully.
I'm sure Cai and Mal will revel in having even more boy time, to play fight and chase each other around the house lol.

I will still be blogging every Monday, Thursday and Sunday, hopefully with some updates here and there as to how I am getting on.

However, we all know that usually change and shopping go hand in hand, so (hangs head) I have a few wish lists and possible haul posts coming for you guys, all back to study appropriate, keep your eyes peeled.

Monday Mani : Barry M Mustard

On the wonderful world of Instagram a few weeks ago I saw that Barry M would be launching their new Autumn Winter Gelly nail polish collection at Superdrug. As soon as I saw the new shades I knew Superdrug would be seeing me pretty soon.

I am trying different colours on my nails and I wanted to start with something I have never used, which is a yellow nail polish. So off I went and some ££ lighter I had acquired Barry M Gelly Mustard nail polish amongst others.

For this look I have used Barry M Gelly nail paint in Mustard.

Now for me I am not a fan of actual mustard or this nail polish on me....at first. It is very true to its name, a golden mustard yellow colour and applies opaque after 2 coats. As always the Barry M Gelly formula is present and application of this polish is a doddle.

The first night I painted my nails I did not like the shade on me, however over the next few days I definitely grew to like this shade. I also received quite a few compliments on my nail polish too.

After seeing the new shades in person in store in honesty I am not overly excited by the new collection, as I feel it to be lacking a little something. However as I am a Barry M nail polish lover I will be trying out the shades Cardamom and Chai (pictured above) with reviews for you guys soon.

Sneaky Peeky Snippets : Boys Weekend

Hi guys.

A week or so ago we had my 2 nephews and cousin staying with us for 4 nights and I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of what we got up to.

We also experienced a first as parents as our little man Cai decided he wanted to take a poo in our front room. Yes right on the floor. A lovely large poo just causally there. Mal also stepped in it which is how we discovered his 'present'. That morning he had taken off his nappy and I'm guessing that is when the deed was done. So we are going to be potty training Cai very soon, as I think these are little signs he may be ready for the introduction to Mr Potty.
Told you guys that motherhood is glamourous :).

Mum To Be Freebies

Following my previous posts last month focused around my pregnancy, I had a couple posts in the making. I caught the flu and was not able to finish, proof read and post them up. I have finally been able to refocus on my blog posts and wanted to share a final (for now) pregnancy post.

While pregnant I worked within an office, behind a desk 9 - 5 and I used to fill my breaks up with internet trawling for all things mummy & baby. I read and watched many reviews and knew all the items I wanted in no time.

Of the many wonders I found along the way, were all the amazing companies that offer mums to be freebies, exclusive offers and helpful information and I mean, who doesn't love a freebie.

I have created my personal top 7 companies many of which I am still signed up with, that I feel offer parents and mums to be the best advice, vouchers and freebies.

Welcome Back

Hello you lovely lot.

I'm baaaack. I feel like I haven't blogged in ages.

I caught the flu and was unable to get this brain of mine to focus on anything really.

I am finally back to feeling human, and all will be back to normal on Mellies Corner.

We are also right at the start of a new month, September which means daddy will be going back to work. It has been so lovely having him with us during the summer holidays. He provided me with so much help and it made my heart fuzzy to watch the boys doing boys things.

Sword fighting, play fighting, fighting, monsters etc, the general male things.

Sometimes I feel bad when Mal is off as I worry that I am relying on him too much; as there is someone else in the house that can help me with the day to day things around the house and with Cai. However the help and just generally being able to slow down a little has been lovely.

Thank you Mal and hope we didn't work you too hard :).

While I was under the weather I had a lot of time to think about changes to our 'normal' routine as the seasons change. Eventually (or sooner than we think) the weather will not be as nice, so that starts to limit some of the outdoor activities I like to do with Cai. I am currently brainstorming entertaining and fun things to do with my little man out and indoors.

But for now, as always we are loving the park.

Autumn/Winter are my favourite seasons minus the snow. I really don't like the snow. Like really really really don't like snow. *Snow Grinch*

So expect there to be many a wishlist here on Mellies Corner too.

Monday Mani : Cyan Blue

Uggggh. So this week my nails have decided to break.

This is like the bane of my life. It started off with one nail, then two then after that you just have to go for the kill and cut them all down to stubs lol.

I actually tend to like shorter length nails on others as opposed to myself. I think on others they look so neat and nail polish also seems to last so much longer.

On me I feel they just make my hands look ... stubby. I think that's the right word. Like little sausages.

For this look I have used Barry M in Cyan Blue.

I have a few nail polishes I tend to stick to when my nails are this length and that is where this shade comes in handy. This shade helps me to feel a little better when looking down at my short nails or nails breaks as I think it is such a gorgeous blue.
